In Liberia, more than two million people are eligible to vote in Tuesday's presidential election run-off. It's a close contest between the two candidates, ex-football star George Weah and his arch rival, Joseph Boakai, with both sets of supporters convinced their man can win. CGTN's Soni Methu has more.
Known by his supporters as King George and former soccer star George Weah clearly believes he is destined to rule.
GEORGE WEAH PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, LIBERIA "Something is about to happen on Tuesday. On Tuesday will be a historic day, a day that our neighbour Ghana will be celebrating Boxing Day, which is important event while we will be going to the polls to elect George Manneh Ousman Weah."
Weah topped the first poll in October. His supporters say this is their chance. "It is now time that we show to them that without them this country can still move forward" "We need to make our country right and one way we can make our country right is through our vote."
But Weah's been here before - in 2005 he lost despite widespread predictions of victory. And his arch-rival is urging Weah to again prepare for defeat.
JOSEPH BOAKAI PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, LIBERIA "All of us, as we go to the polls, we should accept defeat, we should make this country peaceful, we should think about our people, what they have gone through and that is what I can say to him."
Joseph Boakai is banking on his experience in government -he's been vice president for 12 years - and promises to deliver basic services. "Looking at Joseph Boakai he is educated and he is competent. Also he has been within the system so I believe he is the right candidate for now." "What I expect to see is development because he has promised his first priority is road. Second road, third priority road."
Some analysts say it is too close to call - that much depends on the turnout. Weah's party has even urged his supporters not to drink heavily on 25 December - to improve their chances the morning after - of making it to the polling stations. SM, CGTN.
