There is a good bet you did not know there is a roller derby world cup. Yes, it is a thing. 38 teams making up the largest ever championship tournament, which was taking place in Manchester, England.
And players need to wear the proper protection, and the right equipment.
Teams are made up of five females. The squads skate in a clockwise position -- and you score, when the jammer, they usually have a star on their helmet, passes opposition players. The other team tries to stop that from happening, by blocking, whilst, helping their jammer pass through unscathed.

In the end, the Americans came back from a deficit to topple the Aussies to claim the title, putting the finishing touches on the three-day event.
