Emma Morano, who may have been the last living person born in the 1800s, died on Saturday in her northern Italy home at the age of 117.

Morano “passed away tranquilly” while sitting in an armchair in her home in Verbania, Italy, according to her doctor Carlo Bava.
Morano was born on November 29, 1899, and was the fifth oldest human in recorded history. On her birthday last year, Morano gladly announced: “I’m happy I have turned 117!”

She lived through two world wars and over 90 Italian administrations. Morano said her diet included the consumption of three eggs (two of them raw, one cooked) every day. She was also a gleeful chatterbox.
