While most seniors in China prefer living with their families and refuse to travel far, Zheng chooses to live and travel alone, even though she has a big, happy family.

Born in 1933 during a turbulent era in Chinese history, Zheng was from a poor family and lost her father at the age of nine. Forced to support the family at a young age, she used to raise pigs, work on the land and go fishing at sea.
After getting married, life didn’t get any easier for her. At the age of 40, Zheng lost her husband and had to raise seven children on her own.
Despite leading a harsh life, Zheng managed to stay gold and maintain a positive attitude on life. “Life used to be hard, now it treats me well,” says Grandma Zheng. “I feel blessed to be able to do whatever I want, see whoever I miss and eat whatever food my heart desires.”

After Zheng’s a la mode photos were posted by her great grandchildren on Weibo, the graceful lady impressed many young netizens, who think her style reminds them of Queen Elizabeth II, the world’s longest-reigning living monarch who just celebrated her 91st birthday on April 21.

“When I grow old I want to be like her, wearing a hat and trench coat and traveling on my own,” @jianghuLilyzi commented.
