Ahead of this year's Spring Festival travel rush, China Railway Corporation is boosting transport services and ticketing systems across the nation.
It's expected that an additional 30 million tickets will be sold this year, when compared to 2017. That's an increase equivalent in size to Saudi Arabia's population. To handle the influx, daily ticket sales will go up from 10 million, to 15 million.
With the upgrades looking to cope with what's known as the largest human migration on earth, travelers will now be able to purchase tickets on Tencent's WeChat payment system. The tech giant is aiming to raise online ticket sales by five percent. So for those tasked with the duty of buying tickets for their family members, the days of lining up in mile-long queues is finally over, as smart technology is bringing innovative ways to buying a ticket home.
