Chinese Ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming on Tuesday called for the promotion of film and TV exchanges between the two countries to step up cultural communication.

Liu made the comments at the 2017 China-UK Film and TV Conference in London, where he said film and TV exchanges between China and the UK have become a new highlight of bilateral cooperation.

"The rich cultural resources of China and Britain could be leveraged to step up the development of our creative industries," he told the audience.

Liu also said that enhanced cultural exchanges will build a new bridge of communication between cultures.

"The China-UK relationship is now at its best time in history, as evidenced by the ever-vibrant cooperation in all fields," he said. "The creative industries, the film and TV industry in particular, are fast becoming a new growth point in China-UK cooperation."

Liu called on both sides to seize opportunities, improve cooperation and create new platforms.
