Li Liguo and Dou Yupei, two former senior civil affairs officials, are to be punished for severe dereliction of duty and negligence, according to the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on Wednesday.

Mismanagement by both Li Liguo, a former minister of civil affairs, and Dou Yupei, a former vice minister, gave rise to a “systematic corruption issue”, the CCDI stated, without giving details about the “issue.”

Li will be allowed to stay in the Party and kept “under watch” for two years, but will be removed from his administrative post.

Dou, who is to receive a “serious” internal party warning, will retire early, the CCDI said.

Both are no longer delegates to the 18th National Congress of the CPC.
