For more tennis we stay in Australia and head to the Brisbane International where 18-year-old local, Alex De Minaur, received a wildcard at the last minute when world number one Rafael Nadal pulled out. De Minaur, ranked 208 in the world, would be up against American world number 44 Steve Johnson and looking to end the year with a bang.
The first set goes to a tiebreaker that De Minaur in the far court now leads 8-7, and when Johnson sends a backhand long, De Minaur takes the frame, much to the crowd's satisfaction.
Johnson broke De Minaur in the second, but the teenager gets back on serve at 4-4 with his mentor Lleyton Hewitt in black cheering him on.
Then the young Aussie aces Johnson to take a 5-4 lead.    This is now the second match point for De Minaur, and the teen fires a return winner to complete the huge upset in straight sets. Former world number one Hewitt looks pleased as punch to see his budding protege win the biggest match of his young career. De Minaur will start 2018 by playing in the second round of an ATP event where he will face third-seed Milos Raonic.
