Ghana's Ministry of Trade and Industry has bought a locally made car as part of a government effort to encourage citizens to buy made-in-Ghana products in order to boost local production, reports Ghana News Agency.

At a ceremony recently, Minister Alan Kyeremanten received the Kantaka SUV worth 150,000 Ghanaian Cedi (about 40,000 US dollars). He said it was part of the government's plan to support local enterprises and initiatives in order to create employment and grow production.

Kyeremanten praised the Kantaka brand for being distinguished, developing local skills and using new technologies. He also called for support from institutions to ensure locally-produced technologies get international recognition.
