South Korea says it will consider temporarily lifting sanctions against the DPRK if necessary. This comes after the DPRK and South Korea held their first high-level talks since 2015.
Five senior officials from each side met at what's known as the Peace village. It's situated on the South Korean side of Panmunjom in the DMZ. One major topic of discussion was the DPRK's possible participation at the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. The DPRK has proposed sending a high-level delegation to the Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. Pyongyang's delegation at today's talks said it is willing to see athletes from both sides walking together in the opening ceremony of the games.
Meanwhile, South Korea has proposed reunions of separated families sometime around the Lunar New Year holiday.
