An ongoing conservation and preservation project at the Grant Museum of Zoology in Preston, UK has seen a number of historic examples of taxidermy renewed, some of them more than one hundred years old. /VCG Photo

Founded in 1892, the museum now houses around 68,000 specimens from a chimpanzee to an elephant shrew. /VCG Photo

The project aims to preserve specimens that have begun to crack and split with the help of the expert museum conservators. /VCG Photo

Careful consideration is given to every piece to retain the animals' appearance as accurately as possible. /VCG Photo
