China Ivory Ban: A step forward to rein in illegal ivory

A "new year gift to the elephant". China's complete ban on the ivory trade took effect on Sunday. Now trade in ivory and ivory products in China is illegal. China has long been one of the world's biggest markets for ivory. Chinese authorities say the country will continue to clamp down on ivory collection as well as processing, sales, transportation and smuggling of elephant tusks.
