TechCrunch kicks off 10th annual “Crunchies” award ceremony

TechCrunch kicked off the 10th Annual “Crunchies” Awards Show, the award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the latest startups and technology innovations of the year in San Francisco, United States on February 6.
 
The “Crunchies” give awards for advancing inclusion in the tech industry, as well as for the best use of technology to make a social impact.
 
There were two new changes on show at the “Crunchies” this year.
 
First, more Chinese tech companies have been getting assimilated into mainstream Silicon Valley culture, shown by the nominations of many Chinese startups this year.
 
Second, tech companies are growing more open in expressing political views. About one hundred companies attending the event had earlier filed a court document opposing US President Donald Trump's immigration ban on nationals from seven Muslim-majority countries.
