Japan's Kobe Steel is under fire for fabricating data concerning the strength of its products for years. The misconduct has now spread to iron powder products, after previous reports about its aluminium and copper products. Kobe is Japan's third largest steel maker. Its products are widely used in cars, aircraft, Shinkansen bullet trains, and even rockets and defense equipment. Affected industries are now evaluating the extent of the impact. Shares fell 18 percent on Wednesday, following a 22 percent drop on Tuesday. Kobe also faces recalls, replacements, and possible litigation.
