China has again urged the United States to adhere to the One-China policy. This comes as the US House of Representatives on Tuesday passed two bills relating to Taiwan. One is a "Taiwan Travel Act" that would open the door to US visits from senior Taiwan officials, as well as US leaders visiting Taiwan. China has expressed its strong opposition in response.
LU KANG CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESPERSON "China is resolutely opposed to this, and urges the US side to adhere to the 'One-China' policy as well as the three Sino-US Joint Communiques, and to cautiously deal with related Taiwan issues. The US should avoid any official contact with the Taiwan authorities, and not send any wrong signals to the pro-independence forces in Taiwan. We hope the US can take real action to safeguard the overall interest of bilateral ties, as well as China-US cooperation in international issues."
