Japan Defense: Japan plans to introduce US F-35B stealth fighters
[]
Reports say the Japanese Defense Ministry is considering introducing the US Marines F-35B stealth fighters.
The F-35B is capable of short take-off, vertical landing and invisibility to radar. The Kyodo News Agency says there are two plans. One is replacing some F-35A fighters already on the purchase list with F-35Bs, and the other is buying more F-35B fighters. It says the ministry is also considering refitting its Izumo helicopter carrier to accommodate the stealth fighters.
