Four-day forest fire put out in Inner Mongolia

Firefighters on Sunday put out a forest fire that had been raging for days in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, authorities said.

The fire broke out around 12:00 p.m. BJT (0400 GMT) on Wednesday in Chenbaerhu Banner in the city of Hulunbuir. Some 9,000 people were mobilized to extinguish the blaze, which burned around 8,400 hectors of forest. But no homes seem to have been endangered. 

On Sunday afternoon, the majority of firefighters started leaving the area. Some 2,500 people and three aircrafts stayed on site however to patrol and clean up.
