Expectations are high for Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Germany. CGTN's Hou Na sat down with the German Ambassador to China Michael Clauss, for his expectations for Premier Li's visit and agreements to be reached during the trip.

Michael Clauss, German Ambassador to China says Premier Li keqiang's visit to Germany is expected to boost bilateral ties to a new high.

Michael said quite recently  German Chancellor Angela Merkel came to China three times within one year. This is Premier Li's second visit to Germany after taking office.

The frequent high level exchanges between China and Germany shows that the bilateral relations are at their historical best.

The main focus of the visit will be on the economy, market access, and how to bring it to a level playing field through the implementation of Article 15 WTO, which means market economy status.

Agreements are expected to be signed on Industry 4.0 and cooperation on the field of research and development.

When asked about his thoughts on the Belt and Road Forum China that was just hosted, Li stated, "Germany absolutely support the philosophy of Belt and Road Initiative which is about to boost connectivity and promote free trade," the Ambassador said. "Several German companies are very much interested in participating projects, especially in the field of infrastructure."
