At least 25 people are feared to have drowned in a shipwreck off Libya, after a dinghy, possibly carrying some 150 migrants, sank in the Mediterranean sea.
According to the German charity Sea Watch, the rubber dinghy sank north of the Libyan capital Tripoli. The Italian navy is on the scene where several people have been rescued from the vessel. Eight bodies have been recovered so far but the exact death toll remains unclear. Rescue efforts are ongoing for more possible survivors.
According to Doctors Without Borders, over 3,000 people died trying to cross from North Africa to Europe last year.
