Iran has recently built a third underground missile production factory and the country will increase its missile power, Iranian Fars news agency reported on Thursday, citing a commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Coprs (IRGC).

The head of the Guard’s airspace division, Amir Ali Hajizadeh said on Thursday in a public meeting in the southwestern city of Dezfoul that Iran’s development in missile production, tests and underground missile facilities would make the US and Israel “naturally upset and get angry” as “they want Iran in a weak position”.

The development is likely to heighten tensions with the West, especially after US President Donald Trump said during his recent trip to Israel that Iran is a “common enemy” of Israel and Arab countries in the Middle East.

Trump, who has imposed new sanctions on Iran since taking office in response to its recent missile launches, has called it a “state sponsor of terrorism,” saying that Tehran must never be allowed to have nuclear weapons.

The Iranian general pointed out that Iran plans to build its first ground-to-ground ballistic missile that will be named “Dezfoul” in the near future.

Earlier this week, Iran's newly re-elected President Hassan Rouhani responded to Trump's remarks by saying that "Iran does not need the permission of the United States to conduct missile tests".
