The daughter of Choi Soon-sil, the confidante of former South Korean President Park Geun-hye who was at the center of the 2016 corruption scandal, was arrested en route from Denmark to South Korea and later arrived in Seoul on Wednesday afternoon, according to Yonhap News Agency.

21-year-old Chung Yoo-ra’s mother Choi was accused of interfering in government affairs as Park's confidante. Chung is reported to have received preferential treatment in enrolling and graduating at Seoul’s prestigious Ewha Womans University.

She also allegedly received money from South Korean conglomerate Samsung, which went towards her equestrian training and a luxurious lifestyle in Europe.

She arrived in Incheon International Airport in Seoul at around 2:40 p.m. local time, and will be taken to Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office for questioning.

She was arrested on board a Korean Air flight departing from Amsterdam, after being extradited from Denmark, according to the Korean Herald.

On January 1 this year, Chung was arrested in Aalborg, Denmark for illegal stay, and had been held at a detention center. Her extradition was not approved by the Danish government until last week.
