Beijing says China and India -- as neighbouring countries and the two biggest developing countries -- have shared interests and consensus in opposing trade protectionism. The Chinese Foreign Ministry comments come in response to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Davos speech on concerns about the recent wave of trade protectionism.
HUA CHUNYING CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESPERSON "Prime Minister Modi's remarks on anti-protectionism reflect that economic globalization is in the interests of all countries, especially the vast number of developing countries. China and India have shared interests and consensus in opposing trade protectionism and promoting globalization. China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with other countries, to make globalization a force that promotes economic growth and benefits all countries. As neighbouring countries and the two biggest developing countries in the world, both China and India should develop healthy and stable bilateral relations, and China hopes to keep in touch with India to properly handle disputes."
