The head of China's National Bureau of Statistics has addressed measures for countering accounting fraud. Ning Jizhe said that the regulation for the implementation of the Law on Statistics has already been submitted to the State Council.

"The National Bureau of Statistics has set up a law enforcement and supervision bureau. There is zero tolerance on accounting fraud. There must be an investigation if there's a case, and law violations must be dealt with. In 2016, we investigated and directly punished 15 cases in nine provinces or municipalities. Each case involved more than 10 officials,” said Ning, commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics.
