Two women have been killed and four other people have been seriously injured after severe winds struck Pone Nar Island in Myanmar's western Rakhine state, according to a Ministry of Information statement on Tuesday.

Around 18 homes have been totally destroyed and a further 16 partially damaged. 

The injured are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
