The sunken Sewol ferry has finally been moved onto land in the South Korean port of Mokpo, almost three weeks after it was salvaged, the country's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said on Sunday.
Engineers started to move the ferry slowly ashore at around 1:00 p.m. local time, and the unloading operation was expected to be completed by Sunday night.
The Sewol ferry sank off South Korea's southwestern coast near Jindo Island almost three years ago, killing 300 people, mostly teenagers on a school's trip. Nine bodies remain missing until now. The ferry was lifted out of the water and put on a transport vessel on March 25.
