And speaking of those Games, South Korea, celebrated the "50 days to go" countdown until the Winter Olympics. The Olympic Flame continuing its 2,018 kilometre journey to the host city, stopping off at Chungju, an historic region famous for its seven-story stone pagoda built in the eighth century.
Here is the lighting of the torch at the notable landmark. It's the largest pagoda in the nation and it's geographically right in the middle. Having begun its tour November 1st in Incheon, the Flame will have made its way through nine provinces and eight cities when it arrives at the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium on February 9th. Bearing responsibilities for this latest leg is Korean rower Kim Ye-ji, who won a gold at the 2014 Asian Games. To mark the countdown, celebrations have been planned in Seoul for the torch run until the opening ceremony.
