Yunnan joins hands with MOFA to lure foreign tourists

Yunnan Province, which is known for delicious ethnic food, an inviting climate and second-to-none natural, social and cultural details, is gearing up to lure more international visitors.
Organized by the Yunnan government and cosponsored by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, a promotional event was held in Beijing this Monday with the aim of gaining more international exposure for the promising land.

Under the slogan “An Open China: An Amazing Yunnan, Sharing Its Best with the World,” the event was addressed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Secretary of the Yunnan CPC Provincial Committee Chen Hao and Governor of Yunnan Province Ruan Chengfa.
Wang said Yunnan has benefitted from the “Belt and Road” initiative. “Yunnan is striding forward,” Wang said. He even promoted Yunnan products personally, saying “as a globetrotter, I find the Yunnan coffee the best.”

Top Yunnan leaders addressed the publicity event, giving a brief and comprehensive introduction of their province. Foreign diplomats and press also participated. Ambassadors representing Kazakhstan, Laos, Malta and Myanmar addressed the event, talking about their country’s economic, cultural and social ties with Yunnan.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry has cooperated with the local governments of multiple underdeveloped regions in China to introduce investments and business opportunities from overseas. This is part of China’s poverty-relief effort.
