China launched the world's largest ore carrier on Tuesday in the port city Qingdao, in east China's Shandong Province. The carrier is 362 meters long and 65 meters wide. It has a super capacity of 400,000 tons with a speed of nearly 30 kilometers per hour. With seven cargoes and one liquefied natural gas tank, the carrier claims a maximum loading and unloading speed twice as fast as other ships. All the ship's technical indicators, including its structure, propelling and monitoring systems, have been upgraded to become the most advanced in the world. 30 ore carriers of this type will be built by four Chinese shipyards. The carriers will mainly ship iron ore from Brazil to China.
