The Kremlin, Lenin's Mausoleum, Saint Basil's Cathedral and the Kazan Cathedral offered one of the world's most spectacular settings for celebrations. Fireworks were also the preferred mode of celebration in Dubai. And the spot for the best views, the rooftop of Pullman Mall. Tourists were able to enjoy the display without spending a single penny.

In Greece, festivities were slightly different. Bars, hotels and restaurants held colorful parties -- going all out to light up cities and the skies come midnight. And in Germany, Berlin's New Year's celebrations saw a spectacular fireworks display at the strike of 12 over the iconic Brandenburg Gate. Besides ushering in the New Year with fireworks, Berlin is also getting recognition for live music in recent years.
