Iran's Revolutionary Guards chief has announced QUOTE the "end of the sedition", after days of deadly protests erupted across the country.

General Mohammad Ali Jafari said the Guards intervened "in a limited way" against some 15-thousand protesters, adding that a large number had been arrested. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Iranians rallied in support of the country's government, and slammed rioters as mercenaries of the enemy. The demonstrators chanted anti-US and anti-Israeli slogans and reaffirmed their commitment to the Islamic Republic and to Iran's security and stability.
