US Withholds Aid for Palestinians: US is largest donor for both Palestine and Israel
[]
The United States is the largest donor for both Palestinians and Israel.
According to the US Consulate in Jerusalem's website, the US has provided around 600 million dollars annually to the Palestinians in recent years. This aid can be roughly divided into three categories. One is USAID, the conduit by which the State Department provides aid to countries across the world. The second is the economic support for law and order in the Palestinian Authority, and the third is the support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, or UNRWA.
On the Israeli side, over the last 20 years, the US has slowly phased out economic aid to Israel and gradually replaced it with military aid. In September 2016, the United States and Israel signed a ten-year Memorandum of Understanding in which the US pledged to give 38 billion dollars in military aid from 2019-2028. The Congressional Research Service's conservative estimate of total cumulative US aid to Israel from 1949 through 2015 is 127.4 billion dollars.
