In Japan, demonstrators have also gathered on the streets of Tokyo to protest against President Trump's controversial decision. Islamic communities from different countries held a peaceful rally near the US embassy. Our Terrence Terashima reports.
TERRENCE TERASHIMA TOKYO "I am standing about couple of hundred meters away from the U.S. embassy in central Tokyo. And as you can see the security here is very tight, with few dozens of policemen surrounding, securing the perimeter. Islamic communities from different ethnicities in Japan have gathered to protest US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. People here come from all over Asia, such as countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Pakistan, as well as parts of the Middle East. The demonstrations have been peaceful. It started with a prayer, and more and more Islamic communities are gathering here in front of the American embassy."
"I want to say this to Prime Minister Abe as well. Don't do as America bids you. Say NO to America. There are innocent people getting killed, please be supportive to these people. If you side with America, you are destroying the world peace. Stop being ignorant"
ABDUL AMAN SIDDIQUI DEMONSTRATOR "Till now no president from Nixon to Obama nobody did like this. Mr. Trump all of the sudden he made this unjust decisions and we are shocked about this."
Organizers say this is a onetime protest, but if the situation continues to worsen in the Middle East, there will be more protests in the near future. Terrence Terashima, CGTN Tokyo
