We head over to Canada for the 47th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships taking place in Montreal. Lining up for China were the pair of Xiao Ruoteng and Lin Chaopan hoping to do well enough to earn a spot in Thursday's men's all-around final.
In May at the Asian Championships, Xiao overcame his compatriot to win the gold. Here Xiao continues the form from earlier in year to score 14.866 on the pommel horse and then 14.6 with the parallel bars, putting him 4th, earning a spot in the final in two days time.
Lin, suffering from a shoulder injury, is able to score 14.333 on the vault to go with a parallel bars total of 15. The 21-year-old will also be in Thursday's final after finishing 6th.
Japan's Kohei Uchimura's tenure as world all-around champion comes to a premature end. The 28-year-old limps out of his second rotation after suffering a leg injury. Uchimura, a three-time Olympic gold medalist as well as an 8-time world champ, will now miss the chance to go for a ninth.
In total, five Chinese will be in the finals across three events. Zou Jingyuan comes second in the parallel bars to book a place in the final.
19-year-old Weng Hao, who is to participating in his first world championships, finds decent rhythm on the pommel horse. A score of 8.533 earns second spot and makes sure he will compete on Saturday's final in that event.
China's former world champion Liu Yang will also be in contention for a medal thanks to finishing 4th in the rings qualifying session.
