People in the southern Indian city of Chennai have paid tribute to the victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami on the calamity's 13th anniversary.
Survivors and victims' relatives marched in memory of those who were lost. They lit candles, poured milk into the sea, and prayed for the souls of the deceased. In 2004, a magnitude-9.15 earthquake struck in the Indian ocean. It triggered a severe tsunami that affected Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and several other countries. An estimated 16-thousand people died in India, and 730-thousand more were displaced.
