Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has arrived in Tokyo and met with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
Turnbull's visit aims to bolster security ties in light of the rising tensions in the region. A so-called "visiting forces agreement" is expected to be discussed. This will allow for smoother transportation of military equipment between the two countries in times of need. Abe and Turnbull met in Sydney a year ago where they agreed to deepen defense ties and work on maintaining the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
