Shanghai airport bomber sentenced to eight years in jail

‍A Shanghai court on Friday sentenced a man to eight years in prison for setting off a homemade bomb at the city's international airport last June that injured three people.

The man, identified by the court as Zhou Xingbo, set off a homemade explosive device in a beer bottle at a check-in counter of Shanghai Pudong International Airport on June 12, 2016, before taking a knife and slashing his own neck. He was later taken to hospital for treatment. 
Three passengers were injured in the attack and flights had to be delayed or canceled.

Prosecutors charged Zhou with causing an explosion to endanger public security, without causing serious consequences.‍
