China and Albania have agreed to enhance cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road initiative, and a mechanism focusing on China and Central and Eastern European countries.
The pledge came as visiting Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli met with Albanian President Bujar Nishani on Monday.
Hailing the geographic advantage of Albania in southeast Europe, Zhang said Albania is a major country along the Belt and Road.

Zhang said the two countries can further deepen cooperation in infrastructure, production capacity, tourism and agriculture, while Nishani said a sound bilateral relationship is of special importance to Albania.
China is Albania's major trade partner and main investment source. Bilateral trade volume reached over six million US dollars in 2016.
