It's October which means pumpkins, Halloween, and Major League Baseball playoffs. We're going to forego the gourds and goblins to focus on baseball as the Cleveland Indians hosted the New York Yankees for game 2 of the American League Division series. Last year's runners-up Cleveland shutout the Yankees on Thursday, but would fall behind in this one until Francisco Lindor unloads a mammoth shot to start their comeback.

 

Second batter of the game, Gary Sanchez, goes right up the middle with this pitch from Cory Kluber and it is going to just clear the wall in center field. And the two-run homer makes it 2-0 New York.

 

But Cleveland respond with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first when Carlos Santana singles into left field and that brings in two runners to tie it at 2 in an action packed start.

 

Now 3-all in the top of the third and Aaron Hicks knows right away as he smacks one deep to right. The towering shot stays in play and makes it over the wall for a three-run dinger that puts the Yankees up 6-3.

 

And they add to their lead in the fifth thanks to Greg Bird who sends this ball flying to just about the same place as Hicks. A two-run homer that makes it 8-3 Yanks.

 

Bottom of the sixth, bases loaded for Lindor who absolutely crushes this pitch off the upper deck for a grand slam, and just like that the Indians only trail by one at 8-7.

 

Bottom of the eighth and Jay Bruce delivers for the Tribe. A solo shot that evens the score in the game that would go to extra innings.

 

But the tie isn't broken until the 13th inning. Man on second for Yan Gomes who wires one down the third base line and that brings around the winning run as the Indians complete the comeback 9-8 to take a 2-0 lead in the best of five series.

 

Houston took a 2-0 lead in the other ALDS as the Astros hammered the Boston Red Sox 8-2. And in the national league, defending champions the Chicago Cubs shutout the Washington Capitals 3-0 while the LA Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-5.
