Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on Thursday.
Putin said India will become a full-fledged member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) next week at the organization's summit in the Kazakh capital, Astana.
Modi hailed relations between the two nations, saying they were based on trust. Both leaders will attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday.
They will meet again at the Astana summit on June 8 and 9, which will focus on sustainable development and promoting cultural and humanitarian cooperation, among others.
