If you were asked where in China has the most positive energy, what would you say?
A public welfare program under Alibaba recently published a ranking of Chinese provinces and regions according to positive energy, according to the China National Radio reports on Monday. The polls ranked central China’s Henan Province as the number one place in the country in terms of having the most positive energy.
The program was founded in July 2013, and aims at spreading positive energy around society. Some 100 mainstream media groups and organizations have joined in to select relevant touching cases and stories of good deeds, with a public welfare fund of 31.79 million yuan awarded so far.

The following three recent and well-known cases of people from Henan helping others are only a few examples out of many, which have impressed many netizens in recent years.
Chinese passenger Cao Hongguo, from Henan, stopped a man from rushing into the cockpit of an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa to Beijing earlier in March.

Originally from Henan, Zou Mingdong, who works at a factory in the city of Kunshan in eastern China's Jiangsu Province, where an explosion killed and injured many in 2014, saved some 20 co-workers, risking his life in the process.

Yet another Henan hero, Fu Hongfei successfully saved an unconscious man at a railway station in Tokyo in 2013, an act that saw him commended by the city’s authorities.

As many as 14 people from Henan have also been honored by the annual “Touching China” awards, a China Central Television program that honors ordinary people who do extraordinary things at work or in their daily lives, which has been broadcast for the past 15 years.
Rather than an accidental phenomenon or coincidence, it’s more of a reasonable assumption that with so many heroic figures hailing from Henan Province, the area truly does have a lot of positive energy, said Liu Yingji, professor at the institute of politics and public administration in Henan Normal University.

With a profound historical and cultural background, Henan's residents tend to be better versed in performing China’s traditional virtues of benevolence and passing such virtuous behavior on from generation to generation, according to Er Yuehe, an author of best-selling novels on China's emperors.
