China condemns claims by foreign groups that it has been repressing and imposing restrictions on Uygur people with Muslim faith in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson during Wednesday’s regular news briefing.
In response to a reporter's question, Lu Kang said people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are enjoying better lives, working conditions and brighter prospects for development.
“Peace and stability in Xinjiang will not be changed by whatever words come from these foreign groups,” he added.
With respect to counter-terrorism, Lu added that China opposes linking terrorism with specific ethnic groups or religions, which is also one of the widely-recognized rules for international counter-terrorism cooperation.
