5G Technology: MIIT releases new 5G standards

Now for a look at China's tech sector. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled its latest standards for 5G technology on Tuesday. The move means that tech companies can now start making their own 5G products.
WEN KU, COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR MIIT "5G is a closely inter-connected system, involving chips, base station, and smartphone. We can not ignore any part of them. We offered a platform for tech firms to conduct tests to speed up the development of 5G technology."
China is at the forefront when it comes to 5G technology research and development. Beijing has the world's largest 5-G research hub, where global tech power houses, including Nokia, Ericsson and ZTE have set up labs. The MIIT says China will roll out its first 5G products in early 2019.
