Benina Airport in Benghazi, Libya has been reopened for commercial flights after three years closure on Saturday.

It was shut down due to clashes between government and opposition forces.

Earlier this month, the forces declared victory after storming their rivals' last holdouts.

In 2014, government forces in Tripoli launched a military campaign against Islamists and other opponents in Benghazi.

The first flights from Benghazi headed to Libya's capital, Tripoli, and to the Jordanian capital, Amman.
