International Day of Peace: China's contributions to UN peacekeeping operations
[]
The UN peacekeeping missions have made significant contributions to world peace. There are currently 15 peacekeeping operations led by the UN, mainly in the Middle East and Africa.

As for China's efforts, it currently has the largest number of UN peacekeepers among the five permanent member states of the UN Security Council. According to the latest statistics from the UN, China now dispatches a total of some 2,500 peacekeepers to various missions, while the number for France is about 800, the UK 700, and less than 100 for Russia and the US.

China began its participation in UN peacekeeping operations in 1990. So far China has already contributed more than 33,000 peacekeeping personnel, involved in 24 UN peacekeeping operations, 13 of whom lost their lives. Meanwhile, China is also currently the second-largest country to share UN peacekeeping costs from 2016 to 2018.
