The Chinese Embassy to Afghanistan and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) held a charity event on Thursday morning, to hand out winterizing assistance to 17,200 refugee or homeless families coming back from Pakistan and Iran.

The supplies were given out at a location southeast of Kabul, including blankets, buckets and soap.

The Chinese government has provided a 1 million-USD special assistance fund to the UNHCR through China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC), to help Afghan refugees.

The fund allocation is led by the UNHCR, which reports to China about how the money is used.
