Japan's 196th session of parliament has opened in Tokyo. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is giving a policy speech. Analysts say accelerating the process of amending the constitution will top the agenda. The session is scheduled to run until June 20th. According to a survey conducted by Japan's Kyodo News, some 54.8 percent of Japan's public is opposed to revising the war-renouncing Constitution under Prime Minister Abe. That's up 6.2 points from the previous survey taken in December 2017. As for Abe's proposal to legitimize the Self Defense Forces in the supreme code's Article 9, 52.7 percent of the people said they were opposed to it.
