France Floods: Seine inches higher, Paris on high alert
[]
The River Seine in Paris continues to rise. It's forced the evacuation of about 15-hundred people across the French capital, and its surrounding area.
France's government-run flood monitoring agency Vigicrues, has predicted a maximum level of flooding, though slightly lower than the floods of 2016. Despite more favorable weather expected for the week ahead, water levels will recede at a slow pace. The Louvre Museum closed the lower level of its Department of Islamic Art, to the public until Monday. Rail operator SNCF also closed commuter lines that run along the river. French weather agency Meteo France has placed eight districts on orange alert until Monday afternoon.
