[]
Most of the companies operating in China that made it to the list are either foreign firms or local businesses with partners from abroad. Ying Junyi tells us more in this report.
The Employer's Institute ranks companies based on the working conditions they offer employees, as how well they do in training, career development and benefits. This year it recognized 76 companies working in China, and most of them are either foreign companies or foreign firms taking part in local joint ventures.
JEAN CHRISTOPHE POINTEAU, COUNTRY CHAIR SANOFI "I am extremely proud to be elected as a Top Employer. And also Sanofi is extremely pound. I think you could understand the effect since 1982, so 35 years of experience and trust."
What does the Employers Institute think a good employer should be like? We visited one of this year's award-winning employers, Roche China. This is the third time the company has been named a top employer and the first time it has been named in the top ten. The Swiss-based biotechnological company employs some 4,000 employees in China, who now have an average age of 33.
CAROLYN MEDLEY, VP, HUMAN RESOURCES ROCHE PHARMACEUTICALS CHINA "We need to create the environment where people can feel they can really develop. Develop their career, either in their chosen field they are in, or they can move cross-functionally, cross-department, cross-country to develop their career. We invest a lot of time, effort and money in actually developing our people, and especially developing leaders."
That's echoed by human resources leaders from international hotelier IHG and management consultants Deloitte.
RAYMOND CO, VP, HUMAN RESOURCES IHG GREATER CHINA "In our company, we are trying to tell our line manager, to focus on five things, whether they are millennials, or from earlier generation, sense of complimentary, sense of broke, sense of belonging, sense of purpose, and sense of security. That's we are trying to do. The method is different. We will try to do more digital. But don't forget the principle, every human being need these five senses."
JUNGLE WONG DELOITTE "I think it is important integrating employee is not until the time when we give the offer. Take campus recruitment for an example, every year we take more than more than 1500 campus recruitments. What we did is we start from the second year, so what we have is start from intern ship program."
In China, college graduates next year will surpass 8 million. An additional 5 million will join the labor market after graduating from vocational and technical schools, and from universities overseas.
