South Korean President in China: Xi Jinping meets visiting Moon Jae-in in Beijing
[]
We begin here in Beijing, where Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with his South Korean counterpart, Moon Jae-in, who's on his first state-visit to China since taking office in May. After a welcoming ceremony at the Great Hall of the People, the two leaders held talks on ways to enhance their bilateral relations. President Xi noted that October's CPC Party Congress looked at ways in which China could collaborate with its neighbors, including South Korea; whilst he also welcomed the country's participation in the Belt & Road initiative. Moon, meanwhile, called for a "new start" in their bilateral relations, as well as joint efforts to peacefully resolve the Korean Peninsula nuclear crisis. They also discussed cooperation in areas such as technology, education, cultural exchanges and sport.
