A Shanghai man who ran over and killed a woman in December has received a suspended sentence, in recognition of his voluntary surrender to authorities. The man, identified as Mr. Gu, pled guilty to the crime. Gu was distracted using his mobile phone when the accident took place. He pledged to compensate his victim’s family. Gu was given a 10-month suspended sentence and a year’s probation.
